My daughter got a Molly doll for her birthday and so we started reading the series of books. I was worried because I thought they'd be boring books - but they're actually really well written and the plot lines aren't babyish. I enjoy reading them as much as she does! This particular book centers around the differences in Christmas before the war and during the war, and although the title pretty much gives away that there will be a surprise, I must admit that the ending was even a surprise for me. It made me tear up (OK, CRY!) and I had to explain to my daughter (she's only 5) why I was crying when the book was really happy. A great read!

My niece (10) loves Molly's stories. I have gotten her the first 4 stories and the movie, and she genuinely likes the characters. This is her first American Girl.
18 yrs later and another child is enjoying American Girls Molly in the new technology era. Way to go . Learning about our Countries time periods of history through young girls and their families.
