Vampire Most Wanted An Argeneau Novel Argeneau Vampire Lynsay Sands Books
Lynsay Sands knows humor and knows her target audience with her Argeneau Novels. I am not knocking them because I have purchased them all; it is a great escape from reality and the everyday drivel. This story focuses on Divine AKA Basha Argeneau and her 'lifemate' and adventures and hi-jinx occur. It is not a bad story whatsoever - there is a freaking dark backstory to her character though - I found that this one was quite good. I find that I laugh out loud at certain passages and re-read them for a few more chuckles. I have done that with all of the books in the series. This one has Lucian delivering some of the best lines - bless him. Vampire Most Wanted An Argeneau Novel Argeneau Vampire Lynsay Sands Books Reviews
So, Marcus & Basha (aka Divine) ... I've been in love w/ the Argeneau clan since the very first time I picked up Love Bites many years ago, and then fell in love again when I discovered it was part of a SERIES. I started collecting them all & have enjoyed not only each book, but the overall story within. Much like any multi-part series w/ a deeper story woven in, sometimes in order to advance that deeper story, an individual story might suffer a bit. It feels a little like that's what happened here.
The initial story - Marcus is tracking down the elusive, possible rogue, Basha Argeneau as a favor to Lucian, and also because he's been kinda at loose ends w/ Julius & Christian both finding life mates recently. He meets Divine, and they connect but she not only has secrets but she also has a son to protect. Or, at least, she think she has to protect him. Parts of this story reminded me of Vampire, Interrupted (Julius & Marguerite's tale) because it seems like Divine has a past that she can't remember. She compartmentalizes her thoughts & memories, to the point that even when she's being read, no one is able to get the full picture. And even we, as the reader, aren't given the full picture because when she thinks of the past, she thinks of it in snippets as well.
Anyway, with the exception of a few fun encounters, this book has a more serious bent than even VI. It's focused more on "is Divine Basha, and is Basha a rogue?" than the relationship between Basha & Marcus. And the dark parts of the story are VERY dark. The reveal of what Basha actually went through is super sad but was well-done. I just think / wish that the story should have gone on a LITTLE bit more after that. We didn't really get to see the fun side of this relationship, except for one date-night. And I missed that.
What I loved, tho, far outweighs what I didn't. The cameos by Vincent, Jackie, Tiny, Mirabeau and even Lucian... ) It was super nice to get to see Vincent back in his playful sidekick role. ) And I absolutely LOVE Lucian any time I can get him! I'm looking forward to continuing with this series, and I do hope we get more glimpses into Marcus & Basha's relationship in the future. Perhaps a "catch us up with everyone" Christmas novella, Ms Sands? ; )
I love Sands books - been reading them for years. What's with this one? It was dark, had little romance, and was totally depressing! I expected a fun, light vampire romance and got totally grossed out. (Really? Did she need to describe the blood and gore so explicitly?) The heroine seemed stupid and unaware, the hero had no great substance either.
Lynsay Sands needs to take her time (the book seemed rushed at the end - probably her publisher was pushing for it) and create another with more fun. I don't want to read a book that seems like "True Blood." Get back to the original formula!
I just finished reading "Vampire Most Wanted". I had read some reviews that said it was "dark", but for most of the book it wasn't, but then close to the end, it was VERY DARK! In the beginning of the book I thought it was good except for the DETAILED and DRAWN OUT explanations of things that happened in the past and how the characters FELT about them as well as how they felt about everything else, which slowed the story down. Those parts should have been a lot more brief. Readers don't need that detailed amount of information to understand how the characters feel or why.
Then I got to the "dark" part. Definitely different from all of Lynsay Sands other Argeneau novels, and I have read them all. I have to say this was not my favorite. It was intense, and I do like intense stories, but this one went too far, with rape, torture and murder of not only adults but children and babies. I know this is a vampire story but I much more enjoy Lyndsay Sands sense of humor in her previous novels over this dark side she as discovered. I wouldn't say don't read this, especially if you are a Lynsay Sands fan as I am, but just be prepared for the dark side. I really hope that her next novel is back to the funny side with lots of action. In my opinion her best books were, "Immortal Ever After", "Under A Vampire Moon", "A Bite to Remember", "Tall, Dark, and Hungry", and "Love Bites".
This book was very good & interesting; do you remember Marcus? He was the family friend that has followed not only Julius around but Christian too.
Basha Argeneau is the long lost niece of Lucian; when she was 11 she was captured & tortured by Leonius Livis the crazy no-fanger who was trying to make an army of sons by impregnating women young or old. Basha has been on the run for years trying to avoid capture by Lucian because of another crazy immortal put those thoughts in her head.
Basha has been traveling with a circus for the last couple of years & Marcus was doing a favor for Lucian because Marguerite suggested it & he then found Basha or Divine as she was being called at the circus. Marcus thought that are 1st he couldn't read her because she was older than him but later realized that it was because she was his lifemate; but Basha wasn't totally sure why she couldn't read him.
There is a lot of plots in this book; there was seeing some old friends again in this book, there were some sex scenes & there were some truths that were told to Basha that were shocking. But, you will have to read the book to find out what they are. I did finish this fast-paced action packed book in 1 day & will be reading the next book in this series later today.
